Garden of Earthly Delights Oil on Canvas. 30″h X 14 ft
2020 was a rough year for the whole world. Perhaps the last time we experienced a time so wrought with anxiety, frustration and brutality was 1968. In my own life that year was full of trauma, but only the house on fire references personal trials. Student Protests around the world, violent suppression of protests during the Mexico Olympics, Chicago Democratic Convention and Kizhavenmani Massacre of tenants by their landlords in Tamil Nadu, India. Passions ran high and everyone took sides. Many change their minds quietly later. “Garden of Earthly Delights” of course references the wonderful triptych by Hieronymus Bosch painted 500 years ago.
